Will rugby fans turn out to watch Hearts?
Hearts yesterday launched an innovative move to target 35,000 Scottish rugby fans. Making use of e-marketing Captain Steven Pressley wrote to Scottish Rugby Supporters to invite them, on behalf of Hearts Supporters, to come to the forthcoming Champions League fixtures to be played at Murrayfield.
In his email the Hearts skipper issued the call: "The matches are set to be played out in front of large crowds, given the significantly increased popularity of Hearts. If you are new to football, or it has been a long time since you watched a game live, then come along because you won't be disappointed".
Is this a very clever move by Hearts commersial department and do you think it will increase the match attendance?

Hearts are going to play European games in a stadium with a capacity over three times that of Tynecastle, so it would be in their best interests to try and fill the ground as much as they can.
Targetting rugby fans is a good idea, but will they be willing to pay £25 minimum to watch a team they don't follow? I doubt it.
Hearts should make the tickets for families and children at vastly reduced rates. After all, they may only play two games there, but if they do qualify, they will be playing two top european sides and another well known European side in the group stage. Getting families and children to go would help their fanbase in the future rather than the short term interest of rugby fans.
A good idea in theory, but the price of European ties would put them off. After all, they cannot discount European ties too much, especially when hiring a large stadium like Murrayfield, which will cost them a lot of money, which Romanov would like to recoup.
well being a celtic fan…if hearts get the rugby fans to wach them..theyll still think that there waching rugby…with the way your players hit that ball high over the bar…and with the way pressley tackles other footballers…lol…just kiddin mate…anything that can improve and pick up the support of the scottish game is a good thing…and hearts are defo heading in the right direction…look foward to the challenge this season!!
who would want to
If I lived in Edinburgh I would go because:
1. I love Murrayfield.
b. They asked nicely.
iii. I'm not a Hibees fan.
Meet you afterwards in Diggers?
I like rugby and i would go to see Hearts play anytime.
!!!!aha shut up !!!!you are being a FUD now too Farr!!!!
Hearts fans don't turn out to watch Hearts so what makes you think rugby fans will be any different?
Hope so?
Are you Tam Cowan by any chance? haha lol
We had @ 30,000 in the Schalke game, a sprinkling of "egg chasers" wouldn't hurt I suppose! Fiercely Edinburgh and Scottish into the bargain! I can foresee a 3/4 full Murrayfield of Hearts fans anyway. Watch the rich put down their Salmon sandwiches and pick up the Steak & Gravy pie!!!
mabey or mabey not.
