Watch Television On Your PC Archives

my little sister watches entirely way too much disney channel. I'm sick of it. I'm always working in the living room on my pc and my little 8 year old sister is always watching tv. which is bad enough. I wish my mom would stop being so overprotective and let her go outside everyday and play. I think she goes outside to play maybe once every 2 years. I finally realized its extremely unhealthy. I get bored of watching tv now after like ten minutes-the commercials destroyed
what was once good television. Sometimes the commercials take soo long that I forget what im watching and change the channel. I used to be like my little sister as a kid her age. I used to play alot ages 2-8.
I cant say that about her. She has alot of toys and shes probably sick of them all. But my mom spend alot of her hard earned money buying that stuff for her... Reading, we should probably get a library card but that hasnt happened yet. She says she's read all of her books (which to me, its B*llshit because shes got abunch of books and I don't think I wouldve read them sooo much that I got sick of them-excuses.)

I know disney channel is the least worst channel a kid her age can watch, and nick too kinda except I think Disney channel kinda teaches her to act snobby and not to be racist-white girlish-paris-hilton type. I'm sick of that hannah montana S***. She doesnt set agood example for kids her age.. Miley Cyrus's boyfriend is my age. 20.
Its been like more than half the summer and all day all I hear in the backround is zack and cody, hannah montana, wizards of waverly pl...
woo woo, woo woo.

What can I do to help my little sister?
I don't want her addicted to tv and probably having bad social skills when she can probably feed her young mind with intelligence and power, and to socialize and to understand people at a young age...Idk
Does this make any sense?
Can Ya Feeel me?

I see this question asked over and over, but never with the picture working for a minute. I plugged my toshiba satellite into the PC jack on my LCD tv, with a headphone to aux jack for the sound (which WORKS!) and a VGA cable for the picture. I hit fn F5 and switched to the LCD TV mode, it worked for about two seconds and went out. I can't get it to come back on. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I want to watch shows from the internet on the bigger television screen. The sound worked from the second I plugged it in, but the t.v. only worked for a second and now says NO SIGNAL. Before anyone asks, yes I made sure the plugs are in all the way.
I also tried to restart my computer. When it started back up, the "Toshiba" that appears at first showed on my TV, but as soon as it went to the log on screen, it disappeared and said no signal again. Fn F5 still doesn't work.

I plan on buying a Packard Bell iMedia A5518UK with Blu-Ray Player and I want to watch Blue-Ray movies on my HD television seen as I don't want to spend extra money on a monitor and want to experience the Blue-Ray player.

The computer has a VGA / DVI and HDMI video output and the question I am asking is if I connect my HDMI cable into the HDMI output on my PC and to the HDMI output on my television will my television display my computer and in high-definition?

Thanks

I installed a video card on my PC so I could watch downloaded movies on my PC. My monitor is plugged into one video card and the television is plugging into another card with s-video capabilities. How do I switch from viewing on my monitor to viewing on my TV?

I want watch TV or move as like as television on my pc, without tacking a paid membership ?

I started watching Internet video on my home television. Video comes out fine by using S-Video, however, Audio portion of it using RCA jacks is humming. Is there a way to fix the humming? thanks

My mother purchased a JVC GR-D370U digital video camera that records onto mini digital cassettes. She has watched the videos playback via av plugs to the television but is wishing to upload video to her pc. She can connect the usb plug to the pc and capture the still images saved to the memory card, but she is unable to capture or even locate the digital video. I've searched on the jvc site and found a dv (digital video) cable. I assume this may be needed to transfer the video. Can someone out there help us out? Thanks a bunch.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500 MCE tuner card. I am able to watch and record television from the cable input, and for the most part that is fine.

However, I am having difficulty finding an adequate program that can display and record from the composite video input of the card. I want to connect my Wii and other consoles to it so I can use them on my monitor instead of a television and be able to record gameplay. The ones I've used so far either look good and have sound but there's a lag of a matter of seconds, have no sound, have low framerate in full screen, or have other various problems.

Am I missing the standard for this? Does anyone know of a good program--preferably free, but I'm willing to pay--that displays input with good quality and with sound and with no lag? Do I need a Divx codec to record video in reasonable size?

I am getting a PS3 for Christmas and I was wondering if this TV is compatable with a "Monster" HDMI Cord. Here is the info on the product...

This article discusses the affects televison has on children, and ways to fix the problem. Televison programs can cause a lot of problems, wheather it being mental or physical. Its not only children that are affected by them, it's also toddlers and teenagers. There are some people that spend up to four or more hours watching TV. Which is way more than the American Academy of Pediatrics recomends. This refrence tells the advanages and disadvantages of watching TV. Although there are many disadvantages there were a few advantages, such as, watching the news and seeing whats going on in life. But, there are defintally more bad things to the activity. For example, it says that obesity is at a higher risk. That is because instead of being physical and joining sports children are rushing home to catch their favorite television show. Also, it can scare children and influence their behavior, along with the choices that they make. This article also suggests things for parents to do with their children instead of watching tv programs. It talks about rules to enforce when it comes down to the TV. "Record weekday shows or save TV time for weekend and you'll have more family togetherness time to spend on meals, games, physical activity, and reading durning the week" (Gavin 6). These affects prove that it's not healthy to watch too much television.

I'm looking to purchase a new desktop for my room. The room is pretty small, but big enough for a desktop pc. Being that I have no room for a television, I was wondering if I could use the computers monitor to hook up a time warner cable box? Is it possible to do without a tv tuner? If not, what type of tv tuner should I be looking at in order to connect a cable box and watch cable off the computer as if i was watching it on a regular tv?

By this i mean is there a program you can download or a website in which you can watch channels that you would find when you switch your television on. I know about sopcast and i don't want any foreign programs or channels. I don't mind if you have links to individual sites where programs are streaming.
Cheers.

I am purchasing Sony's 52" XBR5, and possibly the 5300ES receiver.. From this point I need some help.

can any one suggest a way so that i can watch the channels on my PC without cutting the Cable TV line, of the operator. The operators line going to the television set of our living room is close to the window of my room. I have tried hanging a coaxial cable on the trunk line (Cable TV), and manged to get a few channels compromising the quality, but it is still worth watching ? Is there a way to increase the no of channels without cutting the main cable line. Can the signals coming from the line be boosted or amplified to view in my PC.

On the watch instantly on your PC,

1. Is it possible to download them to a DVD to watch on your television rather than on your PC?

2. If not, is it possible to connect my laptop to my tv to watch it that way?

3. Can you pause, etc.?

Thank you
Thank you. Another question came up. If I can only watch them while on line, etc. I have a limited number of hours. If I pause or rewind a movie, does that count on the hours? I am guessing it does, but would like to know for sure.

So, my overall goal is to get rid of cable tv. I still want/need internet, but I really don't watch enough television to justify a bill every month, and I live in a very rural area where picking up a signal is not possible, even with an antenna.

What I'd like to do is set my computer up so I can stream tv shows off of Hulu and sites like that through my tv, but I still want to be able to use my computer as a computer while I'm streaming. Is this possible?
What will I need as far as equipment?

I am trying to watch whatever is on my PC on my TV. I have all of the necessary cables but I just don't know how to change the settings on my PC to get the visual on my television. I have an ATI radeon graphics card, and Windows Vista 64 bit. I connected the s-video cable from the back of my PC to an RF modulator, since my older tv does not have an s-video jack actually right on the tv. then from the rf modulator I ran a coax screw in cable from it into the spot on the back of my tv. Still no video! can someone explain how to make this work?

Hi,
I have a HD Rogers digital box, and was wondering, if at all possible, if I can turn my computer into a PVR, so that I can then watch my programmed shows on the television set(instead of just the PC monitor).
What type of TV Tuner card can do this, if any?
Thanks.

I have limited space and would like to get ride of my regular tv and be able to watch it on my PC is this possible and if so exactly how do I do it.? PS I use cable television No box thanks

I have a pc that I would like to make a television. Can a CRT monitor display HDTV? I'm gonna get a tv tuner card as well as a video card that can decode hd content. I just want to know if I'm going to have to get a new monitor as well. Thanks in advance.

I am in student accommodation and can not get a signal from my room so didn't take my tv. But for christmas got a wii and want to bring it up, I don't no if i need a tv license or not?

on the website it says 'You must be covered by a valid TV License if you watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV. It makes no difference what equipment you use - whether it’s a laptop, PC, mobile phone, digital box, DVD recorder or a TV set - you still need a license.'

so as I can not get broad casted tv is this ok??

thanks

I use my pc for EVERYTHING! Music, web-access, papers, work, even I watch some DVDs that I rent from different places. Am I weird for not having television. I never watched American Idol or anything of that sort. People look at me like a crazy person when I tell them. I don't want a television but should I get one to be socially acceptable? Television shouldn't define a person. Just a thought.

I may be a bit old for kids channels but my brother sure isn't
So any one out there know a website where I can download the tv sheledule or watch live television on my pc

Real satellite products for PC?
It is my dad's birthday soon and we are moving to another country from the US this summer. I was wondering if there are any real products (not free scams) which would allow us to watch American television (tv channels) on our tv or computer in another country. I think this would be a great gift for him, but I cannot find anything that looks real. I found Tv on Pc, or something like that, which offers a one time payment of and then it would forever be free....well...yeah right. What sounds too good to be true, actually is.

Thank you for any help!

Netti

I download movies to my pc and watch them, via a cord, on my television all the time. however, lately the connection is not recognized by computer. tried everything - advanced display set up, attach display, F5, hook up additional monitor wizard, etc. it used to work so i think the problem is with the actual hardware. i have replaced the cord to no avail, so the problem is with the computer. Also, volume stopped working at the same time, I think it is the hardware of the side panel (with all the in/outlets): is there any way to resolve this without sending back to Dell? Please help!
Yes, exactly S-video. The cords are not the problem, but perhaps the outet to the cord (on side/back of computer is). Can you help?

I am asking about streaming live broadcasts, like CNN has on their website. I have TVersity, PlayOn, netflix, and Hulu for streaming re-runs but I am curious if there is such a program or method available for streaming live television, via the internet, to the xbox.

I just recently purchased a Mac Book and I need to know if there are any programs such as Sopcast or TV Ants which are compatible with Mac OS. Previously, I had a Windows PC on which you could run any streaming program but finding one for a Mac is proving extremely difficult. I would like to use the program to watch live football (soccer) games.
