if nobody in the Tour de France races after stage 17 why don't they just end the race now. this is a parade, a farce. it is like the Indianapolis 500 car racers only racing 440 miles and then everybody getting in line and driving 55 miles per hour. this is like watching bread bake.
I've never been very athletic, but I've always loved to ride my bike. My dad is a huge fan of the tour de france and we watch it together every year. I want a job, although I don't necessarily need one, which is why I want to work at the local bike shop. Nothing else seemed to interest me like the bike shop. It seems like "fun retail". Anyway, the problem is other than my love for biking, I know NOTHING about bikes. I've been watching tons of tutorials on fixing tires, tune-ups, and overhauling wheel bearings. I've also checked their website for the bikes sold at the shop and have been doing research on the brands.
Can I get the job based on pure knowledge, or is working at a bike shop the type of thing where you really do need hands on experience?
HELP!!!!
I want to be a part time salesperson as I am still in Highschool and will not be back from vacation until August anyway.
my friend says he watched the last race a month ago but i think i read an article saying there's one tomorrow. PLEASE list your sources
im 14 years old, i play soccer so i have good leg strength but a pretty weak upper body. My brother is a biker, and after watching this years Tour de France, i developed a interest in professional cycling. Am I to old to start training for pro cycling?
Does every broadcast in the world use the same camera feed from the Tour? That was badly worded, but what I'm trying to ask is if everybody in the world is watching the same thing no matter where they're watching from because it seems like there are just a few motorcycles with cameras in the caravan. For example: does Eurosport use the same cameras as Versus?
After watching the Tour De France for the past 2 years and getting really into it, I've decided I'm going to get into Cycling. I'm a cross country runner who has pretty good endurance and can run up to 13 miles at a time, so I know physically I can be a beginner without too much of a problem. My current problem is that I am in need of a bike. I'm saving up money for my car insurance, but with Christmas and birthday money and the money I make from my job, I should be able to put forward about 0 towards a bike next Spring. What kind of bike can I get in this range that is good for a beginner?
Can I record it? When does it start? How many days is it? What time? any details will help.
I have been watching the tour de France over the last few days and twice the commentators spoke about 'Latent strength'. They said that after riding a grand tour or doing any intense exercise consistently for three weeks the physiology of the body actually changes to give you this latent strength. Meaning that for the rest of your life you will have the staying power or endurance to carry on through anything.
My question is do you think this is actually possible, and if so what level of exercise do you think is needed, could you ride seventy miles a day for three weeks at say fifteen miles an hour compared to the twenty-five or so over the 100+ miles that the pros ride for three weeks?

How can people go crazy during a 0-0 tie. That's just as boring as golf or watching the Tour de France. I watched some of the WC and the 0-0 games nearly put me to sleep. The only time they scored was when I was high so I thought they scored when they actually didn't. How can a 0-0 tie or any tie game be exciting to watch?
@R80-A 0-0 tie is not exciting...and baseball and football aren't boring...and to be honest, soccer won't be as popular in the USA as you think..This might come out wrong but the only way it will become popular is if its played in the hood...basketball and football are popular since its played in the projects..thats how it will become popular
@R80-Actually Little League baseball is the largest youth sports program. Do you know that most people don't even know the MLS is playing now? In our lifetime, soccer will not be a main sport..I will bet anything on that.. My town and high school doesn't even have soccer teams..and no one cares that we dont
I am watching the Tour de France on TV. The competitive bicyclists at the tour are probably the most durable endurance athletes of any sport. For over a month, these men will pedal bikes for 3 - 4hrs at high speeds nearly everyday with only approx. 3 days rest during the month. Tomorrow - they begin to race through the mountain roads of the Alps. Lance Armstrong - who has won this tour several times and without any more to prove - is racing once again....
I get tired just watching them race.
TUs all around -- Poor Lance Armstrong has another day of falls bec of traffic...The guy would be the "SC" among these riders & is still in the top 20 despite the series of accidents since last Monday...at least they all get a rest day on Monday.
So theres this boy who isn't the skinniest around. We were running track for P.E and we were talking about bikes. I mentioned that my dad was a cyclist. And that we always watched the Tour De France together. Lol. Then the boy said that he rode and won the tour de france! Lol! I literally started laughing and caught him in the middle of the lie.
Firstly cause you might be somewhat fit if you ride in the tour de france and he wasnt all that fit.
Second I don't think you could do that when your 15.
It was a good try though. Lol.
What about you?
do you watch it
I love it
go lance
I have been watching the Tour de France alot lately, and wondering does Lance listen to any music while riding?
If so what type and song names?(a few)
Thanks
Max points for best answer!
297 riders are entered in the Tour de France, currently racing to Paris. And NO Blacks!?
As a Liberal, I am outraged by this!
I mean, sure...the Tea Party has some blacks in it's membership, but we Libs STILL call it a r@cist organization...so the Tour de France with zero blacks must definitely be r@cist.
I think the NAACP should demand an apology from these r@cists!
agree or agree?

Do any of you guys actually watch it ?.I can definitely appreciate the athletic ability involved but it's like watching paint dry
... in your car? I find I'm tempted to pull my car into the slipstream of a big tractor-trailer on the freeways to get some draft! Must... not... do... this!
for those who don't watch today was the last day of the race and all threw the race team radio shack has been wearing black shirts with the number 28 in tribute to the 28 million people with cancer and on the last day the whole team had to change there uniforms because it violated some uniform code i think it sucks live strong lance
I am watching now and they are sounding awfully excited about the peleton not catching the breakaway riders. I watch every year but I still dont understand why that is important. What happens when the main pack doesnt catch the breakaway riders?
Is it only important for the sprinters who are hoping for a stage win?
Excellent answers - thanks for the help.
I don't rly understand how it works, someone explain it pls :S.
i'm knowledgeable in tennis not the tour de france lol xD
I am sure wearing helmet is mandatory during any professional race now. However, while I was watching highlights of previous Tour de France, I notice they were not wearing helmets during some mountain stages.
I was watching the tour de france a couple of days ago. I dont know much about bike races right know though. I saw something that seemed odd. The biker who was way in front of the peloton for a long period of time suddenly he dropped way back into the pack of bikers. I though maybe he was just tiring dramatically but other bikers did the same. Why did he drop this much? Anything helps.
I have been watching the OLN coverage and I almost never see Lance. The only reason I watch the tour is to see Lance race and I think that is the only reason most Americans give a fik about this race. What is the matter with the TV syndicates? Don't they understand that no one gives a fik about a Contador or and Evans? All we want is the drama of Lance Armstrong. Am I right or am I right?
I use to watch the Tour de France on Versus but I had to give cable up. I would generally watch the 3 hour replay in the evenings. I know there are places where you can watch it live online but is there place where you watch replays like Versus has?
Actually, I should have said rebroadcast of the stages.
Who saw Mark Cavendish win and did his tears impress u?
I love watching the Tour de France. But I don't quite understand all about the jerseys, I want to know what time of day they actually begin the stages, where the riders stay, who determines the course each year, etc. I don't even understand the little graph that appears on the screen periodically (US coverage). Is there a website where I can find the answers to my questions? I can't find it on my own. I guess I need the Dummies' Guide to the Tour! Thanks.
